Q+A
WHAT IS ADHD COACHING?
Coaching sessions provide a dedicated time and space for you to understand yourself and your unique brain. You will process emotions, and develop skills and strategies to manage your symptoms more effectively. There is a common misunderstanding that ADHD is simply a matter of willpower, but the truth is: the solution isn't "trying harder" - it's trying new approaches and working with your brain instead of against it.
WHAT DOES AN ADHD COACH DO?
I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths and challenges. I provide support, empathy, guidance, and accountability.
WHY DO YOU FOCUS ON WOMEN AND GIRLS?
ADHD is still underdiagnosed in women and girls. In the past, diagnosis criteria was based solely on male research. In females, ADHD is often not as outwardly visible. While some women are hyperactive, many tend to exhibit less obvious symptoms such as forgetfulness, daydreaming, disorganization, and mood swings. These subtler symptoms are often mistaken for anxiety, depression, or personal shortcomings. Women with ADHD often live with shame and secrecy, further compounded by cultural pressure to conform to gender role expectations. In addition, cycling hormones in females can also impact ADHD symptoms. It is crucial to understand how puberty, premenstrual syndrome, pregnancy, and perimenopause can affect the severity of symptoms. Motherhood with ADHD can be challenging because of the sudden increase in responsibility, unpredictability, and emotional load. But there are countless ways to make motherhood less of a struggle and more enjoyable. If you are a mother with ADHD, know that you are not alone. You deserve to feel seen, heard and understood.

Women and girls with ADHD have so many strengths to bring to the table. They are often creative, preceptive, intuitive and passionate. But because their brains are wired in a different way, certain aspects of life can be challenging. ADHD is a highly manageable condition if it is understood and treated. It is possible to improve your life dramatically with the right help.
